“You make known to me the path of life, you will fill me with joy in your presence…” Psalm 16:11

Teen Moms

One of the passions that God has put on my heart as a coach is working with teen moms.  I volunteered at a crisis pregnancy center during my internship for my psychology degree and really enjoyed getting to know our clients and hearing their stories.  As a coach, I want to add value to the lives of others. I truly want to help them grow, make changes, reach goals, and align their life with God’s plan for them in order to live a fulfilling life.

I also enjoy working with moms of teen moms, as I know you face special challenges and circumstances yourselves!

Being a teen mom is challenging.  Although I did not experience it myself, I do have friends and family members who have and I know the struggles they faced.

It’s a huge learning curve!  Suddenly, you’re a mom!  You are responsible for a beautiful little life and everything you do will affect that precious child.

Coaching is a great way to prepare for parenthood while you are pregnant or even to help you once the baby is already here.

As I talked with a young lady recently, she told me she had so many different thoughts and feelings all jumbled up in her head.  She said she didn’t even realize all the things that “she didn’t know yet”.   For example, that week she had to make her own doctor’s appointment.  She had never done that before and now she is suddenly not only doing that for herself, but she will be doing that for her child soon.  While that may be something simple, it really sort of brought home the reality of how her life was changing and the new responsibility she had.

As a coach, I help teen moms clarify the things they need to learn and do to prepare for their baby and to plan for their future.

We look at the goals you have for your life.

Maybe it’s not the future you had planned or the start you wanted for your own family, but it’s your reality and your life is not over.  No matter how rough of a start you have, or what choices you have made, you can still make something beautiful out of your life. We look at realistic expectations and I help you to set goals and the action steps you will need in order to accomplish your goals.

  • What resources do you have available?
  • What resources will you need?
  • What about boundaries?
  • Who will care for the baby?
  • What will the role of the grandparents be?
  • What changes will you have to make to your lifestyle and choices in order to adjust to your new role as mommy?
  • Will the father be involved in the baby’s life?  If so, what will that look like?
  • What kind of mom do you want to be? What will that look like?
  • What will you do for self-care so that you can be your best?
  • What are the challenges and obstacles you will face?
  • What are your fears?  Your concerns?  Your strengths and weaknesses?
  • What do you feel most prepared for?
  • What do you think you will need the most help with?

As you can see, this just scratches the surface, but there are many things a teen mom can coach around.

If you are a teen mom, or know one, and would be interested in coaching with me, I’d love to work with you!
