“You make known to me the path of life, you will fill me with joy in your presence…” Psalm 16:11

Wife of the year

Award-RibbonWouldn’t we all love to wear the title:  Wife of the Year.

Be honest with yourself.  If your husband were to describe you, would he use those words?

Does your husband know that he is your number one priority?  Your number one human relationship?  —–over your children, parents, best friend, or even a brother or sister.  Ouch.  Reflecting on that can really step on your toes.

I will admit that I am not always wife of the year (even though I’m the only one contending for it with my husband.)   It’s sad, but true.

There are so many little things that I could do that would make a big impact and really create a difference.  For instance, what about those dress pants that he hasn’t been able to wear for months because I never got around to sewing the button back on?  (yes, I admit this is true!)   It won’t take any time at all, and it’s really simple, but I truly never think about it.  I get busy doing everything that needs to be done during the day and it never crosses my mind until he mentions it again.  Well, I’ll go to JoAnn’s today and buy that button.    (Hold me to that, please!)

What would it take for your husband to call you “Wife of the Year”?  Are there any little changes you could make?  Anything special you know he would really appreciate that would show you are thinking about him and putting him above all other relationships.  Often it’s just the little, simple things that mean the most to our husbands.  The kind of things that we can so easily overlook or forget about.

How about starting your day off with these 2 simple questions for your husband? They really show him that he’s your focus.

  1. “What can I do for you today?”
  2. “What can I do to help you make better use of your time today?”

These questions are simple, but they really show you care and want to be the helper that God created us to be.  He may actually have something that would make a huge difference for him if you were able to help him accomplish it.  What a blessing that would be, knowing that you truly helped your husband with something important to him just by asking 2 simple questions.

How do you spend your time?  Does it show him that he’s your #1 priority?  When he’s home, are you?  Are you on the phone with someone else during the time that you have to spend with him?  Do you do things together that he would enjoy doing?

What is one thing that you could do today…..maybe a change, maybe just more of something you already do…..that would show your husband that he is your number one relationship and priority?

What impact do you think it would have on your marriage?   What about if you didn’t make that change–what impact would it have then?   Are you willing to change– even if it means giving up something or putting someone else above yourself?  That can be hard sometimes.

What will you do today to show your husband that he is the most important person in your life?

Just think………….in the process, you just might become “Wife of the Year”! :)

I’d love to hear what you do!  (I’m headed out to get that button.)
